Each Parvati murti is carved in our Chandpole Bazaar workshop in Jaipur, part of the four-generation Sharma legacy founded by Late Pandit Lallu Prasad Sharma, honoured with the Presidential Shilp Guru award in 1991. Our sculptors begin with Shila Pariksha, personally testing a flawless block of Makrana, Vietnam White or Bhainslana marble — the choice depends on the translucency and grain needed for the customization. Rekhankan lays down the delicate contours of her face, saree pleats and ornaments; the Chikni stage lends her skin the satin softness that defines a truly feminine Devi; Swarna Karya finishes her crown, girdle, armlets and nose ring in real gold leaf.
Iconographically we depict Parvati fair-complexioned in a red or ochre saree, often standing or seated on a lotus, holding a lotus bud and kamandalu, with abhaya and varada mudras of protection and boon-giving. The north-east corner (Ishan Kona) is ideal, with the murti facing east or north so the devotee faces west or south while offering prayers. Avoid the south wall, bedrooms, and any spot directly opposite a bathroom, kitchen sink, staircase or shoe rack. Vermillion sindoor, kajal accents and even fine mehendi patterns on her palms and feet can be added on request before dispatch.
Marble is durable, but Parvati's finely carved pleats and ornaments deserve a gentle routine. Dust weekly with a soft, dry cotton cloth or a natural-bristle brush — never a wet rag on gold-leaf areas. For a monthly clean, wipe with a barely damp muslin cloth and buff dry immediately. Avoid chemical cleaners, direct camphor smoke on her face, and abrupt temperature changes. Every three to four years the gold leaf can be refreshed at our Jaipur workshop; we guide overseas clients through a safe DIY touch-up process.
